About LabAnswer

LabAnswer is a laboratory informatics consultancy built on the principles of integrity, teamwork and the pursuit of excellence. We are a privately-held, woman owned business.

The LabAnswer Approach to Business

LabAnswer's philosophy and approach to business is to develop mutually beneficial, long-term business relationships by providing an exceptional level of value to our clients. We are passionate about providing exemplary customer service with best-of-class quality. We understand the necessity of being a team player, and are poised to work with our clients in providing business solutions to their organization. This passion for developing a strong culture rooted in our philosophy statement is the result of the vision of one of our founder's, Bob Patterson.

The History of LabAnswer

LabAnswer was originally formed as part of Digital Consulting & Software Services, Inc. (DCSS). DCSS was incorporated in the state of Texas on January 4, 1990. As a national IT consulting company, DCSS established a solid reputation, client base and growth pattern. The firm focused on web-enabled, client/server, mid-range and enterprise computing environments. DCSS was a leader in LIMS, portal, content management, POS and custom software development and support for many industries.

Initially the DCSS LIMS team was started in 1992 as a partnership with a LIMS vendor to support the implementation of their LIMS into client organizations. Over the years partnerships were established with the leading LIMS vendors to implement SampleManager, SQL*LIMS and LabWare LIMS. In fact a high percentage of these systems in service today were implemented by DCSS/LabAnswer.

In 2003 a focused Laboratory Informatics strategy that supported all the major laboratory systems was initiated. Supported systems now included LIMS, ELN, CDS and Content Management. In that same year the validation team was formed.

In 2004 DCSS was certified at CMM Level 3 after two years of process improvement effort. This effort established a quality foundation for continuous improvement as well as meeting and exceeding the requirements of the regulated industries and in particular the FDA regulations as recorded in 21 CFR Part 11.

In 2006 the DCSS laboratory informatics team was named LabAnswer. That same year the general IT consulting area of DCSS was sold to a public company (Perficient). So the exclusive focus of DCSS and LabAnswer was now laboratory informatics.

Today, LabAnswer has grown to be one of the largest independent laboratory informatics consulting providers in North America. The LabAnswer team of consultants, each averaging over ten years of experience, has a rare combination of laboratory science, IT, business and regulatory expertise.

"One of the reasons I was convinced that LabAnswer was the right choice for this endeavor, was that I knew that their dedication to 'doing the right thing' for their clients, would create an environment that substantially increased our chances for success."
